Waterline is a free water-tracking tool. It requires no account, and your data is stored on your own device.
The App is not a medical device. Its water goals and reminders are for general reference only and cannot replace a doctor's diagnosis or advice.
Important terms that affect your rights, such as disclaimers and limitations of liability, are marked in bold. Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Waterline (the developer shown on the App Store product page, referred to below as "we") regarding your use of the Waterline iPhone app, Apple Watch app, and their widgets, Siri and Shortcuts features (together, "the App").
By downloading, installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
If you are a minor under the age of 18, please read these terms with a parent or other guardian, and use the App only with your guardian's consent.
2. The service
- The App provides features including water and drink logging, daily goal calculation, reminders, trend statistics, achievements, Apple Health sync, Apple Watch and widgets.
- The App is currently free, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. If paid features are introduced in the future, we will clearly tell you the price and what is included before you buy, and it will be up to you whether to purchase.
- Some features rely on system services provided by Apple (Apple Health, iCloud, WeatherKit, Siri, etc.). They require support from your device and account, and are enabled only after you grant permission.
3. Health disclaimer (important)
- The App is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment or prevention advice. The daily water goal is an estimate based on general health recommendations using information such as your weight, activity and the weather, and caffeine values are estimated from typical drink contents. Both may differ from your actual situation.
- If you have kidney disease, heart disease (such as heart failure) or liver disease, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking medication that affects fluid balance such as diuretics, or your doctor has limited how much you drink, follow your doctor's advice and do not adjust your fluid intake based on the App's goals.
- Drinking a large amount of water in a short time can cause hyponatremia (water intoxication). Drink moderate amounts spread throughout the day, and don't force yourself to drink just to reach a goal.
- If you experience severe thirst, dizziness, confusion, or a noticeable change in how much you urinate, seek medical care promptly. In an emergency, call 120 (emergency services) immediately.
4. Your data
- Your entries and settings are stored on your device and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own iCloud account. We do not store your data, so we cannot recover data lost because you deleted the App, changed devices, cleared data or for similar reasons. We recommend turning on iCloud sync or regularly exporting a backup in “Privacy & data”.
- You should make sure the information you enter is true and accurate. Goals and statistics calculated from inaccurate information may not reflect your actual situation.
- For how we handle your personal information, please see the Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to comply with laws and regulations when using the App, and not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, or attempt to obtain its source code (except where expressly permitted by law);
- modify or crack the App, or create or distribute derivative versions of it;
- use the App for any illegal activity, or to infringe the lawful rights and interests of others.
6. Intellectual property
- The intellectual property rights in the App's software, interface design, icons, text, graphics and other content belong to us and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, in accordance with these terms and the App Store usage rules.
- Apple, iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple Health, iCloud and Siri are trademarks of Apple Inc. The App is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc.
- The data you enter in the App belongs to you.
7. Third-party services
Services used by the App, such as Apple Health, iCloud, WeatherKit, Siri and notifications, are provided by Apple, and your use of them is also subject to Apple's relevant terms. If features are limited because of changes, interruptions or failures of Apple's services themselves, we will do our best to help, but we are not responsible for them.
8. About Apple and the App Store
- These terms are concluded solely between you and us. Apple Inc. is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the App or its content.
- For matters not covered by these terms, the Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions applies.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for the App. If you have any issues, please contact us using the details at the end of these terms.
- To the extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the App. Any claims relating to the App (including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims and intellectual property infringement claims) will be handled by us, not Apple.
- You represent that you are not located in a country or region subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept these terms, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
- The App is provided "as is". We do our best to keep the App stable, available and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will be completely error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will meet all of your needs.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for data loss or limited functionality caused by device failure, system updates, third-party service issues, network problems, or your own actions such as deleting data or turning off permissions.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for consequences arising from your failure to follow the health disclaimer in Section 3 of these terms, or from adjusting your fluid intake based solely on the App's goals and reminders.
- The above terms do not exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for property loss caused to you by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or for personal injury caused to you.
10. Changes, interruption and termination of the service
- We may update, adjust or discontinue some of the App's features as circumstances require. We will notify you in the App in advance of any changes that significantly affect you.
- You can stop using and delete the App at any time. If you violate these terms, we have the right to stop providing you with updates and support.
- If the App is discontinued, the data already on your device remains under your control, and you can export it before the service ends.
11. Changes to these terms
We may modify these terms. The modified terms will be published in the App with the update date. If a modification involves your significant rights and interests, we will notify you prominently, such as with a pop-up, when you open the App. By continuing to use the App, you agree to the modified terms; if you do not agree, you can stop using and delete the App.
12. Governing law and dispute resolution
The conclusion, performance and interpretation of these terms, and the resolution of disputes, are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (for the purposes of these terms, excluding the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Taiwan region). Any dispute arising from these terms should first be resolved through friendly negotiation; if negotiation fails, either party may file a lawsuit with a people's court that has jurisdiction.
